careerify.ai uses a minimum of cookies. This page lists every cookie we set and why.
Functional cookies (no consent required)
careerify_locale - Type: Functional, first-party - Purpose: Stores which language the site is shown in (sv, no, da, en, de, es, fr, it, nl, pt). - Lifetime: 1 year - Legal basis: Strictly necessary under the ePrivacy Directive (article 5(3)). It is set automatically on your first visit, when we send you on to the address for your language, and updated when you change language in the switcher at the top right.
careerify_session (when logged in) - Type: Functional, first-party - Purpose: Keeps you signed in. - Lifetime: 30 days (rolling) - Legal basis: Strictly necessary for authenticated functionality.
careerify_aff (only if you arrive via a partner link) - Type: Functional, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: Set automatically when you land on careerify.ai with a click parameter from a partner network in the address. We store which network the link came from, the network's click id and the time of the visit, so the right partner can be paid if you later become a paying customer. The cookie contains no name, no email address and no CV text. - Lifetime: 45 days, or until you create an account. At sign-up the cookie is deleted and the value is stored on your account instead. - The cookie is set by us on careerify.ai. It is not read by any other company's site and it is not used for ad profiling.
careerify_ref (only if you arrive via a referral link) - Type: Functional, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: Set automatically when you land on careerify.ai with a referral code (?ref=) in the address. The cookie contains only the code, so the referral can be credited to the right person if you become a paying customer. It contains no name, no email address and no CV text. - Lifetime: 90 days, or until you create an account. At sign-up the cookie is deleted and the code is stored on your account instead. - The cookie is first-party and is not shared with anyone else.
careerify_camp (only if you arrive via an ad) - Type: Functional, first party, httpOnly - Purpose: Set automatically when you land on careerify.ai with campaign tags (utm_source and the like) or an ad platform's click id in the address. We store which source, channel, campaign and ad you came from, along with the ad platform's own click id. That does two things: we can see which ad led to a signup, and if you later create an account or pay, we report back to the ad platform that this particular click became something. The cookie contains no name, no email address and no CV text. - Lifetime: 90 days, or until you create an account. At signup the cookie is deleted and the values are stored on your account instead. - The cookie is set by us on careerify.ai and is not read by any other site. We load no ad pixel and no script from the ad platform: the reporting happens from our own server, and only for visitors who actually arrived via an ad from there. See the subprocessors in the privacy policy for exactly what is sent.
careerify_anon (only if you run one of the free tools without an account) - Type: Functional, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: A random id, derived from nothing about you, that ties your anonymous run to this browser so the result can be moved into an account if you register right afterwards. Holds no name, no email address and no CV text. - Lifetime: 30 days. Moving the run into an account is possible for one hour after the run, see the privacy policy, and after that the cookie is only used to recognise the browser if you run the tool again.
careerify_beta_cohort and skip_landing (only if you arrive via a beta invite) - Type: Functional, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: Holds which beta round you came through, so the sign-up gets the right trial length. skip_landing remembers that you have already seen the tool on the front page, so you are not sent back there. Holds only the round name and a one. - Lifetime: 14 days, or until you create an account. On sign-up the cookie is deleted and the round is stored on your account instead.
Short-lived cookies during sign-in and mailbox connection - Type: Functional, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: careerify_oauth_state and careerify_mailbox_oauth_state protect against someone else starting the sign-in in your name, careerify_mailbox_oauth_verifier belongs to the same security step, careerify_oauth_locale remembers which language you were on so you come back to it, and careerify_after_login remembers which page you were heading to. - Lifetime: 10 minutes, and they are deleted as soon as the sign-in is done. - Legal basis: Strictly necessary for signing in.
Analytics cookies
careerify_sid - Type: Analytics, first-party, httpOnly - Purpose: A random id that ties together the pages you view during a single visit, so we can see how many people reach the tool and how many create an account. The id is random and derived from nothing about you. It contains no name, no email address, no IP address and no CV text. - Lifetime: until you close your browser. It is not kept for your next visit, so we cannot recognise you if you come back tomorrow. - The cookie is first-party and is not shared with anyone else. It is not used for ad profiling.
Alongside it we count pageviews on our own server, without a cookie. No IP address is stored there: unique visitors are counted via a hash that changes every day and therefore cannot follow anyone over time.
On top of that we use PostHog, a third-party analytics tool. It measures how the pages are used and records sessions, meaning a replay of mouse movement, clicks and page changes during a visit. PostHog sets its own cookie (ph_..._posthog) and the data is processed in PostHog's EU cloud. Anonymous visitors get no person profile, only aggregated statistics, and a profile is created only if you log in. If you have Do Not Track enabled in your browser, PostHog is switched off entirely. The requests go straight to PostHog EU servers (eu.i.posthog.com), so an ad blocker can stop them, and your IP address reaches PostHog.
Third-party cookies
We load no ad trackers, no social widgets and no embedded YouTube/Vimeo that tracks. The only cookie that comes from another company tool is the PostHog ph_..._posthog above. It is set on careerify.ai and no other site reads it.
Removing cookies
You can remove all careerify cookies via your browser settings. Removing *careerify_locale* resets the language to Swedish (our default).
